The city of Doral has become the number one city in all of Florida due to ICE arrests, previously held by Miami Gardens due to high numbers of arrests by immigration agents.

Our newsroom receives daily reports, information, and images detailing the heavy ICE presence in Doral. On Wednesday, September 9th, at 11:30 pm, outside a flower company on 72nd Street, a large number of immigration agents were waiting for employees to be processed.
The population of Doral, or Doralzuela, is a community that is almost 90% Venezuelan. Many people who wish to remain anonymous tell us that they have work permits or pending legal cases and fear for their safety. This also includes those who are already citizens or naturalized citizens, who fear being arrested or taken away.
People tell us they’re going back to living like they did during the pandemic. Children aren’t going to school, people aren’t going to work, they’re ordering delivery, and they also mention that some neighbors who are legally in the country are offering to take their children to the doctor or school, or taking their elderly relatives to the doctor, or doing them the favor of shopping for them at the market.
Doral Mayor Christi Fraga, in an interview with our friend and colleague Yoli Cuello on Actualidad Radio, said that these arrests have disrupted the peace and tranquility of the community and are unfortunately out of control.
The economy is already suffering, with empty businesses, empty schools, empty parks, and deserted streets. She added that they have sent letters and spoken with the administration, meaning the government, who responded that they had no idea what was happening in Doral.
Fraga also emphasized that the community should remain calm, stay alert, and ensure their documentation is in order. Also she explained that everyone was supposed to be in agreement with this administration, happy because they were going to remove criminals who had come to create disorder, but now we are seeing families, professionals who have helped Doral grow, being detained by immigration agents with no criminal record and pending cases. Mayor Fraga concluded.

Muchas personas que desean permanecer en el anonimato nos dicen que tienen permisos de trabajo o casos legales pendientes y temen por su seguridad. Esto incluye también a quienes ya son ciudadanos o naturalizados, quienes temen ser arrestados o deportados.
La gente nos dice que están volviendo a vivir como lo hacían durante la pandemia. Los niños no van a la escuela, la gente no va a trabajar, piden comida a domicilio y también mencionan que algunos vecinos que están legalmente en el país se ofrecen a llevar a sus hijos al médico o a la escuela, o a llevar a sus familiares mayores al médico, o a hacerles el favor de hacerles la compra en el mercado.
La alcaldesa de Doral, Christi Fraga, en una entrevista con nuestra amiga y colega Yoli Cuello en Actualidad Radio, dijo que estas detenciones han perturbado la paz y la tranquilidad de la comunidad y, lamentablemente, están fuera de control. La economía ya está sufriendo, con negocios, escuelas vacíos, parques vacios y calles desiertas. Añadió que han enviado cartas y hablado con la administración, es decir, el gobierno, quien respondió que no tenía conocimiento de lo que estaba sucediendo en Doral.
Fraga también enfatizó que la comunidad debe mantener la calma, estar alerta y asegurarse de tener su documentación en regla. También explicó que se suponía que todos debían estar de acuerdo con esta administración, contentos porque iban a expulsar a los delincuentes que habían venido a crear desorden, pero ahora vemos a familias y profesionales que han ayudado al crecimiento de Doral, detenidos por agentes de inmigración sin antecedentes penales ni casos pendientes, concluyó la alcaldesa Fraga.
