White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will Work Until the End of August, According to President Donald Trump

Posted on August 24, 2026August 27, 2026 By GBC NEWS

Karoline Leavitt, 28, the youngest press secretary in White House history and one of President Trump’s closest allies within the White House, will continue working as White House press secretary until the end of August.

President Trump described her as “one of my most trusted advisors” following the changes to his presidential press team.

Trump stated in a post that Leavitt “will be leaving her position at the end of the month so she can spend more time with her precious young children and family a decision I fully understand and respect!” He concluded by saying that Leavitt will continue working as an outside advisor.

Leavitt’s departure comes less than three months before the midterm elections, amid low approval ratings due to high gas prices, the Iran-Contra affair, and widespread perception among Americans that the country hasn’t received enough attention.

Leavitt also made history as the youngest White House press secretary and the first pregnant woman in this high-pressure position. Her replacement is still unknown.

During Trump’s first term, Leavitt held a minor role, but in his second term, she solidified her position as one of his most loyal and effective spokespeople, becoming a trusted figure who quickly integrated into his inner circle.

Leavitt, in front of the microphone, has been able to stand up to reporters who ask tough questions, and she has built a public image as a staunch defender of the president and his policies. She has also shown herself to be a devoted and hardworking wife and mother, even taking her young son Niko aboard Air Force One.

In a social media post, Leavitt called her decision “bittersweet.”

"The truth is, since returning to the White House after the birth of my daughter Viviana, I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mother my two young children deserve while giving them the constant time, energy, and attention required by the position of White House Press Secretary," she wrote.

When Leavitt’s first child was born in July 2024, she took only four days of maternity leave, returning to the campaign trail the day after the assassination attempt against then-candidate Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.

With the birth of her daughter on May 1, 2026, Leavitt took approximately a month of maternity leave, during which the president frequently called her and asked when she planned to return.

Leavitt, upon her return to the White House last month, understood that balancing work and young children was a challenge. I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mother my two young children deserve while giving them the constant time, energy, Now, President Trump has asked me to continue serving as his principal outside advisor, and I will always be a staunch supporter of MAGA and the Republican Party.”
