Tom Homan, White House “Border Czar” the director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), during his recent visit to Doral, a city in South Florida, on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at an America First Policy Institute (AFPI) Hispanic Leadership Conference, said that there will be an increase in deportations by ICE agents, adding that September was a record month in U.S. history for ICE.

Homan also said that the results of the Trump administration’s immigration strategy will continue to break records in mass deportations: “In the last four months, almost 200,000 arrests in the interior of the country. That is unprecedented.”
Although these arrests include people with no criminal record, increasing fear among the population, since in the case of Doral, seven out of every ten people are Venezuelan, and this may be a point of view for ICE raids, regardless of whether businesses are empty or closing and the economy continues to decline.
Homan also warned about what’s coming in 2027: “Wait until you see what we do next year,” adding that the operations aim to combat fentanyl trafficking, human trafficking, and terrorist threats.
