Edian Villar, 28, a teacher at the Doral high school, was arrested on Thursday, May 1, 2025, according to the police report, after being caught having sex with a 17-year-old student at the school.
The teacher Villar, was listed in the J.C. Bermudez High School staff directory, but was dismissed from the school.
According to the police report, a teacher entered Professor Villar’s classroom and saw him having sex with a 17-year-old student. She also stated that she saw Villar pull up his underwear as he left the classroom. This prompted the teacher to immediately go to the principal’s office to report the incident.
Officers went to the victim’s home and interviewed her along with her mother. The young student explained that the relationship began as a normal teacher-student relationship, but the professor treated her in a special way; he wasn’t like the other teachers and paid her a lot of attention.
According to reports from the Miami-Dade School Police, the victim added that the accused was great.
Villar faces 32 charges, including unlawful sexual activity with a minor, child abuse without serious injury, crimes against students by figures of authority, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
He appeared before the bond judge on Friday wearing a bulletproof vest. He was assigned a public defender, ordered to stay away from the teenager, and his bail was set at $49,500.
Edward R. Smith, principal of J.C. Bermudez High School, sent an email to parents of students addressing the allegations against the science teacher, stating that he had been arrested for inappropriate sexual contact with a student and that he had been expelled from the school. Smith also asked parents to contact the school for more information.
Also Miami Dade County Public Schools said:
This type of behavior will not be tolerated and it runs contrary to the professional conduct we expect from all employees. The district has initiated employment termination proceedings and will ensure the individual is precluded from seeking future employment with the district.
A final trial resolution, plea deal, or prison sentence has not yet been finalized or entered into public court yet for Edian Villar, as his criminal case remains pending in the court system
