Actress Hayden Panettiere passed away on August 16, 2026, at the age of 36. She had prominent roles on television, starring in the 1994 ABC soap opera One Life to Live. Panettiere also had notable roles in the television series Heroes, Nashville, and the Scream Saga.
A friend of Panettiere, whose identity has not yet been revealed, made the 911 call. Authorities and emergency crews arrived at her residence in Greenville, South Carolina, at approximately 1:50 p.m. and found an unconscious and unresponsive woman.
Paramedics attempted to revive her using advanced life support, including CPR, special medications, breathing tubes, and a heart rate monitor, but after all their efforts, at 2:32 p.m., she was pronounced dead. According to the Greenville Police Department report, the deceased was actress Hayden Panettiere.
Paramedics determined that Panettiere died from an overdose and cardiac arrest. The Greenville County Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting the investigation into her death and is expected to release its report.
Panettiere leaves behind her 11-year-old daughter, Kaya, from her relationship with her former fiancé, Wladimir Klitschko.
