Doral is shaken once again by a terrible tragedy. An unidentified person jumped from the balcony of a high-rise building at 5300 Paseo, located at 5300 NW 85th Ave in Downtown Doral. The tragedy occurred at 5:15 pm on Monday, July 13, 2026.
The GBC News team was present minutes before the tragedy, as they were finishing another story for the news, and captured the person falling through the air from the third floor to the pavement. The victim was white, male, probably 5’4″, he may have jumped from his 10th floor apartment; further information has not been released out of respect for the family.
GBC NEWS correspondents immediately began covering this story. We called Chief of Police Matthew Castillo’s office directly, and his team of officers arrived at the scene in less than three minutes. A as reported by the officers, the investigation is underway.
CSI then entered the building and went directly to the apartment of the deceased to investigate what happened. At this time, there is no further information about the incident.
Businesses on the main street in downtown Doral, located within walking distance, told us they heard a very loud noise and thought it was a terrorist attack.
Doral Police Chief Matthew Castillo, in a statement on Instagram, confirmed that the incident at 5300 Paseo was an isolated event and poses no threat to the community. The Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death.
We also spoke with Angelica Dolan (Homicide Detective Bureau), and she told us that everything is under investigation and it may be a suspected homicide.
