What Savannah Guthrie Told Her Today Colleagues During an Emotional Reunion

Savannah Guthrie, during her visit to the Today show set on March 5, gave an emotional speech to her colleagues as she reunited with the team for the first time since her mother, Nancy Guthrie, went missing: “I wanted you to know that I’m still standing, that I still have hope, and that I’m still me. And I don’t know what version of me it will be, but it will be. I’m holding on to my faith. I’m still believing. And as my mom would say, ‘Where else would I go?’”
“I fully intend to come back,” she continued. “I don’t know how to come back, but I don’t know how not to. You’re my family. And I’d like to try.”
Savannah thanked the entire staff and crew for their love, prayers, and support, and for “caring about my mom as much as I do.”
It was the first time he had returned to NBC’s Studio 1A in New York since his mother, Nancy, disappeared in Tucson, Arizona, on February 1, and, understandably, it was an emotional moment.
Dylan Dreyer, Today’s weather correspondent and a friend of Guthrie’s, led the group in a “beautiful” prayer. “We’re here holding hands as a family, in a place where we don’t understand why this is happening,” Dreyer said. “It’s not too bold to ask God for the greatest miracles every day.”
Guthrie’s return to work coincides with Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos’ announcement today that investigators are “definitely closer” to finding 84-year-old Nancy, who was abducted from her home. “We have a lot of information, a lot of leads, but now it’s time to get to work,” Nanos said on March 3.
The day before, Guthrie visited a memorial dedicated to Nancy in front of the matriarch’s home, accompanied by her sister Annie and brother-in-law Tommaso Cioni.
Later, she posted a photo on Instagram of the abundance of flowers left by supporters. “We feel the love and prayers of our neighbors, the Tucson community, and across the country,” Guthrie wrote in the caption. “Please continue to pray and hope with us. Bring her home.”
